Sophos Society

Sophos Society is a supper club and salon that I co-created with my friends Lilian and Ian, born from a shared longing for deeper conversation and the kind of focused, intellectual exchange we missed from our university days.

Amidst the noise and speed of daily life, we craved a space where ideas could stretch out, where big questions could be asked without rushing to answers, and where people could gather not just to eat, but to think deeply together.

We host dinners in Venice, CA for a small group of ten—always around a single theme. Past topics have included vigilantism and death, each one carefully chosen to invite complexity, contradiction, and connection.

Before each evening, guests receive some discussion questions as fodder to set the tone for the discussion. Amongst a tablescape of flowers, we open the night with a toast and roundtable introductions with a prompt, then organically move through a series of questions designed to spark reflection and conversation. Sometimes the room is quiet and contemplative, sometimes it’s fiery and full of debate—but always thoughtful, intentional, and alive.

Afterward, we send a follow-up with the shared resources and notes from the night—because these ideas don’t end at dessert.

Sophos Society is our living archive of inquiry, a place to remember that thinking can be a form of intimacy, and that gathering with purpose is, in itself, a kind of art.
